It was a match made in the mountains of Utah!
January 12th, 2023 - on a chilly evening, we met for our first date at Keys on Main in Downtown SLC. Initial thoughts:
Gayathiri – “He is too short.”
Swayam – “She doesn’t drink.”
But like the saying goes, “The heart wants what it wants”.
Things quickly moved from dinner dates to board game nights to road trips. In the company of amazing friends, we were bonding over a mutual love for biriyani, endless rom-coms and dramas, and everlasting games of Catan. We picked each other up during rough times and celebrated each other’s successes like two best friends.
August 2024 was the start of testing times – long distance. Both of us had our reservations about this change but at the same time committed to the idea that things will eventually work out. A love story that involved two individuals from Tamil Nadu and Odisha, was now a story of the Atlantic and the Rockies. The bond grew stronger as we realized how much we miss each other. 2 AM calls and planning short trips to each other kept us hopeful. Netflix tele-party and Zoom deserve special mention for letting us plan those virtual dinner dates.
January 17th, 2026 – In the beautiful Rocky Mountains on a horseback trail, he went down on his knees and said those three golden words - “My knees hurt”. And she said Yes! The horses nodded and gave us their blessings. Our families also nodded (after brief persuasion) and then started the journey of planning an Indian wedding in Utah (work in progress).
So, here we are – tying the sacred knot. We would be honored to have your gracious presence on the special day and as friends and comrades for life on this journey. If this has not convinced you yet, below is a SWOT analysis to help you decide.
